Since technology first made its way into the classroom, instructional designers have played a key role in designing, developing, and evaluating best practices and appropriate usage. Instructional Designers and Technology Facilitators are becoming an integral part of 21st century schools. In order to keep up with emerging technologies, it is important for those associated with ID in the classroom to continue educating themselves and keeping up to date with the latest technology in their fields.
I most identify with the P-12 Technology Integration. As a former teacher turned technology facilitator I realize the importance that technology plays in effectively teaching today's students in the 21st century and to prepare them with the skills needed for college, the work place, and every day life. I love the challenge of teaching "veteran" teachers new ways to teach topics they have taught for decades and also love when younger and less experienced teachers are interested in learning the latest and greatest in technology to engage students. I look forward to the next 10 years in my career because I know how greatly things will change and how exciting education will be with all these new and developing advancements.
